Overview

Dive Master

 

LEVEL 1 - The PADI Dive Master course is an exciting, extensive internship program in which Rescue Divers learn the knowledge and skills necessary to make the transition from a recreational diver to the first professional diving level. Instructor level academic knowledge will be developed and tested. Confined water training includes perfecting all standard open water and rescue skills to demonstration quality, problem solving and evaluating waterman ship and stamina. Instructor level leadership skills, student relations, dive planning and student supervision is developed at this level, allowing the Dive Master to function as a teaching assistant. Instructor Level CPR/MFA and DAN O2 Provider Certifications may be earned during the course of this program. Entry requirements: PADI Rescue Diver or qualifying certification from another training agency, current CPR/MFA within 24 months, a medical examination on a PADI Medical form, signed by the physician within 12 months, 18 years of age, 20 logged dives. (60 logged dives to complete the course.)
Assistant Instructor
LEVEL 2 - PART 1 - The PADI Professional Assistant Instructor course examines the skills developed as a Dive Master, and prepares the Candidate to teach under the guidance and direction of a PADI Open Water Instructor (OWSI). Self study, classroom sessions and workshops set the basis for the PADI Systems Approach to Diver Education. Entry requirements: Proof of Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Dive Master Certifications from PADI or another qualifying training agency, certified as an Open Water Diver for at least 6 months, CPR/MFA current within the last 24 months, PADI Medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months, proof of at least 100 logged dives, 18 years of age.
OWSI Instructor

LEVEL 2 - PART 2 - The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) is the final course prior to taking the Instructor Examination (IE). In the OWSI course the dive professional will deepen their understanding of the PADI Systems Approach to Diver Education. Self study, classroom sessions and workshops encompass the last phase of this comprehensive training program. Upon certification, the Instructor will be qualified to teach and certify Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Dive Master courses, as well as the Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty. Entry requirements: Successful completion of the PADI Assistant Instructor course and all of the requirements for the entry into the PADI Assistant Instructor course.
CPR/MFA Instructor

The PADI Emergency First Response course is basically the same program taught by the Red Cross, American Heart Association and other CPR/MFA agencies, and is NOT dive specific. The Instructor level course is an extended 1 day class which teaches the PADI Professional how to organize, conduct, market and promote CPR/MFA training. The class emphasizes hands-on skill practice and demonstrations and builds self-confidence. Entry requirements: Current First Aid and CPR certification from any qualifying training agency. Prior completion of the Instructor Knowledge Review.
Nitrox Instructor
Enriched Air diving is currently undergoing an enormous expansion worldwide and serious career minded Instructors are strongly urged to obtain this highly sought qualification to round out resumes. (Enriched Air - Nitrox) Instructor course will train Candidates how to organize, market, conduct and certify Nitrox divers. Entry requirements: PADI OWSI Instructor Certification and be certified as a PADI EAN Diver or hold a certification which is equivalent from another qualified training agency.
Specialties Instructor

Once you have become a certified OWSI, there are many areas of special interest which may be taught by becoming a "Specialty" Instructor. The Specialty Instructor Certifications are too varied to list, so please by sure to ask about your favorites. By teaching specialized courses, the PADI professional adds depth to their scope of abilities, and are more likely to obtain better job opportunities.

LEVEL 3 - This is also the time to think about getting your MSDT (Master Scuba Diver Trainer) rating!

DAN O2 Instructor
The DAN O2 Instructor course teaches the Instructor to organize, market and teach O2 provider courses.
IDC Staff Instructor
LEVEL 4 - The IDC Staff Instructor course is designed to provide a PADI MSDT with the additional training necessary to staff and assist PADI IDC courses. This course is conducted during the actual IDC. Candidates participate in an entire IDC and develop evaluation skills. A qualified IDC Staff Instructor is certified to teach PADI Assistant Instructor courses and assist in Instructor-level training.
Career Counseling
A member of the professional staff at Tri-State Scuba Water Academy will consult with you on a private basis by appointment, (regardless of your current certification level), and design a career roadmap for you to follow. This includes not only the steps necessary to get your certifications, but also your costs, material needs, equipment needs and how to apply for a job. This unique offering is done at no cost for those who enroll in Academy courses.
IDC Prep Course
The IDC Prep Course is a special offering to any Instructor Candidate that is preparing for the IE (Instructor Exam). This course reviews the academic knowledge and watermanship skills necessary to pass the IE. The Instructor Candidate will be assessed to determine areas of weakness, and these areas will be emphasized specific to each individual in the prep course.
